Afternoon Tea at
Exeter Golf and Country Club

MOLLY
7 July 2016
Afternoon tea seems so quintessentially English, and a decadent treat. It’s not often I have time to take such a leisurely break in my day, but this week I did just that, catching up with my good friend Mona over a Prosecco Afternoon Tea at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
I’ve been having facials at Exeter Town and Country Club for a while now, and when I stop for a coffee in the restaurant lounge afterwards I can’t help eyeing up the cake stands filled with goodies that are being served. So I was happy to take this opportunity of tea with a friend to sample these delights myself. And I wasn’t disappointed. Just look:

A triple tower of finger sandwiches, fancy cakes and sweets, scones with clotted cream and jam, prosecco and tea and coffee – we had our work cut out!
Absolutely everything was delicious. My favourite was the blackcurrant mousse, while Mona thought the scones were the best she’d tasted. Despite our best efforts at making our way though the middle tier of fancy cakes, it beat us, and I’m ashamed to say that I did not try the chocolate cake, candied turkish delight (or ginger?) or strawberry topped cupcake. But this means I am going to go back for another afternoon tea soon, and next time approach the cakes in a different order!

We were well looked after by attentive waiters, and afterwards sat outside watching the golfers tee off, followed by a stroll around the lovely grounds, full of roses and lavender in bloom.

You can’t beat a good catch up with a friend, and I can’t think of a nicer way to do this than over such a decadent afternoon tea in a lovely setting. Just make sure to leave enough room for all those cakes, and time to walk them all off afterwards!
