Theo says Boux to a Drake
was the newspaper headline that announced that former Dragon, Theo Paphitis, was opening a branch of his luxury lingerie chain, Boux Avenue, in Plymouth. The new store is in Drake Circus shopping centre, and this week I went along to check it out and have a specialist bra fitting.
Welcoming staff and a beautifully laid out store made browsing at Boux Avenue a pleasure. Boux Avenue boasts of being ‘affordable luxury’, which is borne out by current offers of ‘Free Knickers with Matching Bra’ and ‘Buy One Get One Free’ on Pyjama Sets.
The fashion-inspired lingerie has a feel of old-fashioned glamour about it, and this is matched by the boudoir styling of the fitting rooms.
My favourite detail was the option of changing the lighting in the fitting room to either ‘Day’, ‘Dusk’ or ‘Night’, each much more flattering than the usual harsh lighting of High Street changing rooms. A ‘Press for concierge’ button summons immediate attention, handy when en déshabillé and needing something.
I was expertly fitted by the lovely Kizzie, and chose a Tamara Lace Bandeau Bra and matching Briefs and Thong:
Decorative black guipure embroidery adorns a classic navy base with an overlay of delicate black lace on this sensuously seductive bra. The bandeau style and contouring gives a flattering shape with a nod to retro chic, while delicate seaming give this beautiful bra a modern edge.
At the checkout this was wrapped carefully in pretty pink lace-patterned tissue, with scented fabric petals and Boux Avenue sweets, then boxed and bagged. A lovely finishing touch.
I am glad Theo said Boux to a Drake, and look forward to shopping there again soon, perhaps for something more Christmassy …
Looks lovely i am long overdue a lingerie shop
