What really makes a house a home is adding your own personality and creativity. If like me you enjoy being creative, it’s possible to create all kinds of wonderful items for your home.
This guest post will show you how to easily transform your walls with just a little imagination.
One of the easiest things to create that adds a lot of personality to a room is wall art. You don’t have to be Picasso to create your own wall art; you simply need a little imagination and a few basic materials. Here you’ll find my best tips on creating your own DIY canvases.
- Create your own painting
If you invest in a plain stretch canvas, you can have full free reign to create your own wall art. All you’ll need is a few paints. If you’re quite handy with a pencil, you can create your own landscape drawing and then colour it in before hanging it on the wall. This is the most basic type of canvas you can create.
- 3D canvases
If you’re looking to create an attention-grabbing canvas, you’ll want to provide a 3D effect. This is really easy to do. Take a look at local craft stores or shop online. You’ll find plenty of 3D stickers and craft items that will help you to create that striking 3D effect.
- Add a little nature
Nature lovers can add a natural touch to their room by adding pressed leaves to their canvas. This works particularly well in more traditional or period houses that may feature a lot of original timber. Bring the outside in by using leaves and flowers to adorn your walls.
- Retro style art
Some of the most famous paintings in the world have an unusual, retro style. If you’re not very arty and you want something that stands out, create a Monobloc style canvas wall art. This will include painting several canvases different colours and hanging them next to each other.
- Give it a little meaning
Wall art doesn’t have to include a picture. One of the canvases that I created which I’m most proud of is a poem. You can buy letter stencils that provide a beautiful font and you can write your favourite quote or poem on the canvas. When times get tough you can look at it and feel inspired.
