I love that designers do stationery ranges! This was something the Wiener Werkstätte pioneered back in 1907 to realise their goal of bringing beauty into all aspects of everyday life. Sadly not everyone in Vienna could afford a jewel-encrusted sideboard, but at least they could buy a postcard! But I digress, on to modern-day designers …
WHSmith, a mecca for all stationery fans, has a fabulous range of designer stationery on offer this Christmas, much of it at bargain prices too! I’ve been sent some from the Emma Bridgewater Stationery and Orla Kiely Stationery ranges to review.
First up, a Seven Day To Do list pad from the Emma Bridgewater Flowers range.
As a big fan of to-do lists (if it isn’t written down, it doesn’t get done!) I really like this pad. There is plenty of space to write daily tasks for the week, and the large size and colourful design means it’s not going to go ignored. I’m using this one for my ‘home’ tasks rather than for work, and I think it is absolutely perfect for that purpose.
Emma Bridgewater’s flowers range also includes this lovely address book:
This notebook is the perfect size for your handbag or to keep by the phone – I don’t care how electronically advanced address storage has become, I think everyone still needs a good old-fashioned address book. I like the end papers with all the names of flowers in this one, and that there is a separate tab for each letter of the alphabet – I hate having to mix my Smiths together with my Blacks in address books that have two letters per tab!
Orla Kiely is also well-represented in WH Smiths, and I was sent her Large Boxed Notecards to review:
These come in a lovely sturdy box, which I will definitely use use as a storage box when the cards are used up. There are 15 cards in a variety of colours in the box, and 15 envelopes. I love the Orla Kiely stem print on the inside of these!
I like the size of these cards, and that the design is wrapped around the front and back of each one. My only slight misgiving is the quality of the cards themselves. I wish they were printed on a slightly-thicker card, and that they were better folded – on some of mine the edges did not quite meet. Just a small detail, and I am a bit of a perfectionist (*understatement of the year!), but I think with a designer name-tag even diffusion lines should have a high-standard of finish.
All the above, and lots more in the Emma Bridgewater Stationery and Orla Kiely Stationery ranges are available to buy from WHSmith, either online or in store, with some great savings on their RRPs to be had. Perfect Christmas presents, or simply treat yourself!
I was sent the products featured above from WHSmith for the purposes of this review, but no payment was received. All opinions are my own.
Love the look of those Orla Kiely notecards. Shame about the quality – maybe you got a dud batch?
I’m going to check them out when I’m in town x
They’re only slightly-off Liz, I expect most people wouldn’t notice, just me being v. fussy!
Hi Molly, thanks for the suggestions. Very good at this time of year. Hope all is well with you. Saskia
I love this review as I have had a £35 gift card from WH Smiths for months but haven’t found anything I wanted! Until now that is!! Thanks for great review x
