Sometimes home decor inspiration reveals itself in funny ways. I’d been invited by Legal and General, the home contents insurance people, to think about what items I would replace if ‘freshening up my home’ and was just about to tidy up to take some photos when I saw two ‘out of place’ items on my sofa:
A top that I had just ironed and a discarded napkin (oops, TV dinners!) were both injecting a splash of citrus yellow into an otherwise sea of beige, cream, brown and grey. My messiness had been telling me that my room needs some colour!
So, looking around for some citrus accent pieces on John Lewis website, I thought I could perhaps replace some of my cushions, and there are some fab choices here:
1. John Lewis throw pillow 2. Velvet cushion from John Lewis
3. John Lewis Elin Cushion 4. Scion Mini Mr Fox Cushion
Or swap my cream throw for one of these:
5. Designers Guild Sienna Throw 6. House by John Lewis Dominoes Throw
I could also perhaps add the colour to the surroundings in the form of a print or side table:
7. Barbara Hepworth Two Opposing Forms Framed Print
8. Content by Terence Conran Accents, Nest of 3 Tables
What do you think – does my decor need some colour, or should it stay like this?:
