When the Great Plains Autumn/Winter 2014 catalogue arrived in the post recently, one dress leapt out at me immediately as a must-have for my work wardrobe, this beautiful dress called City Scape:

city scape dress great plains

I buy quite a lot of my dresses from Great Plains, I like the simple elegance of their designs, and the quality is always good. This season the focus is on Modern Minimalism:

It’s all about pared-down perfection this season. Take your cue from angular architecture and the dusky blue tones of a cold winter sky.

The City Scape dress comes in a midnight navy painterly print that contains splashes of white, grey and black, so the dress will work equally well with black or navy tights and shoes (a real bonus if, like me, you get dressed in the dark and cannot tell which is which).

The dress is very well structured, with lots of panels, and the material has a little bit of give in it, which means it fits beautifully. The sweetheart neckline is very pretty, and adds a touch of femininity to the more formal tailoring.

The City Scape dress has wear-anywhere appeal that will take you from desk to dinner.

As shown in the catalogue image, this dress is so perfect that it does not need any additional styling. All it needs to take you from desk to dinner is a slick of red lipstick or maybe some sparkly earrings, but otherwise you are good to go.

I can see that I will be wearing this dress a lot this season, and beyond.
