Handmade Thursday is back! I’ve a few bits to show thanks to my lovely friend Amanda of theanamumdiary and her gift to me of – it’s had me knitting all winter!

Here are some of the things I knitted from its patterns:
Chunky Cabled Armwarmers – The first time I’ve knitted a cabled pattern, so I was chuffed with these, and knitted a few pairs in different colours.
Rice Stitch Scarf – Another new stitch for me and I also knitted a few of these (sorry to all the men on my Christmas present list!). The pattern makes a very short and thin scarf, so I widened it by a few stitches and lengthened it by at least one more ball of yarn. (I also used Cashmerino Aran instead of the recommended yarn (Rialto Aran), as I preferred the shade of grey in the Cashmerino Aran, plus it’s such a lovely warm wool.)
Hot Water Bottle Cover – with added appliqued heart. You can see a theme emerging here – brrr! Again I knitted a few of these, in different colours.
Finally, a chunky crossover jacket for my gorgeous niece Anna (though this is from a different Debbie Bliss book: .
Thanks Amanda for the lovely and useful gift, which has spawned a lot more gifts, and I’m still knitting from its pages.
Linking up with White Lily Green’s . Please click the button below to to be taken there and see what else everyone has been making.
Wow! AMAZING! Your Niece is one lucky girl! Her jacket is beautiful!
Amanda got a mention in my post too… She’s a bit special isn’t she?! 😉
Looks like a super book! Thanks so much for linking up!
OK. So this is where you’ve been!!
I am in total awe. I can barely knit a scarf for one of Ruby’s dolls, and a knitting pattern? It might as well be written in Japanese!
So so beautiful. x

I love all the items, but it’s the stitches that I am in awe of! The cable and the rice stitch, just gorgeous!

Oh you are sooo clever. I ‘ve just started knitting simple squares for a baby blanket but I never have the balls to push myself and learn to knit properly. Can you recommend any really easy peasy absolute beginner patterns for a numpty like me who can only knit and pearl?
I haven’t knitted for years but I am adicted to scarves and yours were gorgeous. I must find out where my knitting needles are. Thanks!
