Out and About: Ladram Bay Holiday Park, Devon

I write mostly about interiors here on Molly and the Princess, but if you follow me on , you’ll know that I spend a lot of the time in the great outdoors. Living in Devon, I am very lucky to have such a variety of landscapes to explore from rugged coastlines to windswept moors, along with heathlands, woodlands, rivers, valleys and rolling farmland all adding to the diversity and unique nature of this beautiful county.

It never ceases to amaze me that despite heading out every weekend (weather permitting), I am still having my breath taken away by another unique landscape. This was certainly the case the other weekend when, on a stunning circular walk from Otterton Village to High Peak, we dropped down into Ladram Bay Holiday Park for some refreshments. We took our icecreams down to its private beach, which was deserted apart from a lone beachcomber and the seagulls, and sat and took in the spectacular view of its red cliffs and impressive sea stacks.

I said to my boyfriend, ‘How come I’ve never heard of this place, I wish I knew about it when the children were little, would definitely have come on a holiday here’. I’d no sooner said it (well,a few days later actually) when in a moment of blogging serendipity, I received an email with the heading ‘Invitation to stay at Ladram Bay Holiday Park.’ The social media savvy people at the holiday park had sought me out and thought I might like to stay at the park and tell my readers about it. I happily accepted, who wouldn’t want to spend more time looking at that view?

So the following weekend we were back, checking into a luxury caravan with a view of the sea and a stone’s throw away from the beach. sadly the weather had turned, but that did not stop us having a fabulous weekend.

My circumstances may have changed from when I had young children and was holidaying in caravans, but my memories are strong and I can appreciate what families are looking for in when choosing a caravan park holiday and this has it all – fabulous facilities with swimming pool complex, restaurants, children’s adventure play area, adventure golf course, and entertainment for all the family. And of course, the amazing beach and Devon countryside right on your caravan’s door step.

Situated on the Jurassic coast, the location of the holiday park is perfect for those walking the South West Coast path, so not just for families but also for hardened hikers like myself and bf. No driving and trying to find a carpark for the start of your walk, and then there is the luxury of coming back to a nice shower then easing your muscles in the sauna or steam room, and a meal in the Pebbles restaurant (which is exactly what we did after a hike to Sidmouth and back on the Saturday). There is also the lovely pebbled beach of Budleigh in the other direction, or the quaint village of Otteron and riverside walks along the Otter, or slightly further the seaside resort of Exmouth. This time of year it is bluebell season, and you are near one of the most spectacular spots for them at Blackbury Camp. There are no end of lovely places to visit from Ladram Bay as your starting point, or simply relax and enjoy the views from the holiday park itself.

Here are just a few of the many photos taken on our hike to Sidmouth, so you can see for yourself just how beautiful a location this is (even in this squally weather).

We had a lovely time at Ladram Bay, and can definitely recommend it as a place to stay for either a family holiday, or as a base for exploring Devon. I couldn’t fault it, everything seemed brand new and it totally overturned my conceptions of holiday parks as still having one foot in the 1970s. Ladram Bay has moved with the times, embracing change while still staying focused on providing a great holiday for all its guests. You will be warmly welcomed, as we were, even by the pebbles on the beach tables. Happy Holidays x

For more stunning views of Ladram Bay Holiday Park, its beach and surroundings, you might want to follow , I am blown away by the sunrises and sunsets over the sea stacks, just stunning.

Thanks to Ladram Bay Holiday Park for offering me a weekend stay in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and honest.
