This is my second stationery review post for National Stationery Week 2014 (see my first post here). Today I am featuring Wolf & Ink, a small British company that make the most beautiful letterpress stationery.
I’ve always loved stationery made with letterpress, it has such a wonderful visual and tactile appeal, with effects that just cannot be achieved by digital printing. Letterpress stationery always makes an impression (pun intended!), and this is certainly true of Wolf & Ink products.
Wolf & Ink make their stationery on a beautiful antique printing press called Gertrude, and you can find out more about her and the letterpress process on Wolf & Ink’s wonderful blog. Gertude is used for making customised wedding stationery, as well as a number of products that are for sale in the Wolf & Ink online shop. Here is a selection:
Notelets:
These are single sheets of textured card with a motif printed on the top – there are individual monograms, and cute taxis and Westies, as shown above, as well as a lovely house motif. I love the simplicity of the cards, with the focus just on the quality of the design and the process – perfect for offsetting a beautifully ink-penned message.
Cards:
These cards are printed on to 100% recycled card and are blank inside to write your own message. I think the camel card would make a good ‘apology’ card – you could write ‘Sorry if you’ve got the hump with me’ inside 😉 I don’t think I’ve upset anyone recently though – hope not anyway! The balloon card would be good for saying ‘Bon Voyage’.
Notepads:
This one of course is my very favourite:
I’ve written ‘notebook’ on my image, but Wolf & Ink describe these as notePADs, and that is really what they are. This one has a vintage print of a Penny Farthing bicycle printed onto a 100% recycled card cover in manilla brown craft card, with blank white paper inside. I know a number of vintage cyclists who would love this! It comes in its own little drawstring cotton bag, so would make a perfect gift for someone who likes sketching or taking notes on their travels.
While I am on the subject of packaging, all Wolf & Ink purchases come exquisitely wrapped using thick blue and white butchers twine and blue tissue paper. I posted a the day I received my parcel, it was such a joy to open!
Wolf & Ink also make personal stationery – wedding invites, save the date and R.S.V.P. cards etc, and I show a small selection of samples here:
Personal Stationery:
This personalised stationery is printed onto a thick cotton card stock and uses a deep impression. I’ve taken some photos close up so you can see the depth – so beautiful. I like the combination of the antique letterpress process with the modernity of the fonts and designs – and who wouldn’t love to receive such a sumptuous invite.
I’ve only shown you a small section of Wolf & Ink products, so do check out their online shop. Also, a little birdy told me that if you follow the account they are running some special giveaways this week for National Stationery Week. You might just win one of those lovely Penny Farthing notepads!
Thanks for Julia from Wolf & Ink for sending me this gorgeous stationery to review. All opinions are of course my own.
Molly – Thanks for the lovely review! So pleased you enjoyed our bits and bobs and love the letterpress process. It is definitely a bit more labour intensive than a digital print but always worth the effort.
Julia – Wolf & Ink
Thanks Julia, I love them!
oh how stunning ! I have loved letterpress stationery for many years. The only problem is when I buy it I can’t bring myself to send it out to anybody else and hoard it in my special box ! xxx

Thanks for commenting Karen. Lovely isn’t it. I have the same problem with being unable to part with my favourite stationery.
So elegant! I really like your letterpress ink style stationery, especially the notepad ones. Such a pretty design! I want to try it too. Thanks for sharing this lovely inspirational work.
