The Perfect Autumn Getaway

I’ve stayed in a few luxury hotels in my time (not enough mind!) to know that a good hotel can make for an amazing holiday experience just in itself, before you even step outside its doors. I think choice of hotel is even more crucial when planning a city and/or autumn break, and I was just thinking this when I was introduced to The Rosewood, London:

Guests arrive at Rosewood London through an archway that opens into a grand Edwardian courtyard, in a little oasis of tranquillity unique among London luxury hotels. It is the perfect start to a memorable stay in a timeless heritage hotel, set just steps from Covent Garden.

And just look at what is through those doors!:

This is a real hidden gem in the heart of London, perfectly located for exploring London’s art and cultural events (the hotel is the main hotel partner for the Frieze art fair). But what I love about it most is that inside the hotel, there is also a wealth of art to explore and enjoy:

Filled to the brim with quirky curiosities, Rosewood London offers a unique insight into the works of some of the world’s most renowned artists including Chilean artist Eduardo Hoffman, Simon Bingle and Peter Osborne to name but a few. Contemporary pieces are complemented by more traditional art throughout the hotel.

I’m delighted that The Rosewood also supports emerging talent, with new works by artists Heather Jansch and Tommy Clarke (two artists from the South West) currently on display.

Art is not limited to the public areas – I love this Man Ray-inspired marble bathroom in the Manor House Suite:

For me The Rosewood is the ideal hotel for a perfect autumn getaway. I have fallen completely in love with it!

I leave you with one more image, that of the Holborn Dining Room, which to me has the look and feel of a turn of the century Viennese coffeehouse:

Combining reclaimed oak with antique mirrors, red leather banquettes with tweed detailing, and two patina copper-topped bars, it’s a place for enjoying a convivial meal with friends, a spontaneous pint of local lager and a burger, or a selection of crustacea and charcuterie paired with wine.

I’ve really enjoyed exploring The Rosewood, albeit online, and it is now top of my list of London hotels that I want to stay in as I dream of the perfect Autumn getaway …

What do you think of my choice? If you have any other suggestions, please do let me know in the comments below.

A collaborative post: all images and quotes are from The Rosewood; all other words my own, and honest.
