The trouble with most lunch boxes is they just do not hold enough food, not for someone with my appetite anyway. So invariably I opt for putting my lunch foods in an assortment of Tupperware containers, placed in a plastic bag in case of any leakages. Not pretty, and not even very practical.

But I found the perfect solution to my lunchbox woes in the form of this gorgeous from Culture Vulture Direct, a company that seeks out the best craftsmanship from all corners of the globe, working responsibly to source unusual and unique gifts and homewares.

enamelware tiffin tin from culture vulture direct

This fairly-traded and hand-painted tiffin tin is a thing of beauty indeed, with its boldly painted flower design on a green ground. It is also very sturdy – three lidded compartments sit on top of each other and are secured in place by a metal clip frame and carry handle. There is absolutely no chance of any spillages, TG – I do not want a repeat of my lunch last week when yogurt with blueberries got into my salmon salad, very Heston Blumenthal (not)!

The lids of the two lower compartments can be used as plates, making the whole experience of using this for lunch a very civilized affair.

The ‘tiffin’ comes from the British Indian word meaning ‘light lunch’, however you can pack enough food in this tiffin box for a most hearty lunch. The box itself is not particularly light either, which is the only downside, but this is made up for by the ease of carrying it, and its sturdiness.

Perfect for lunches and picnics, this tiffin box is both practical and pretty, and certainly brightens up my day much more that Tupperware.
