Espa Facial, at Wear Park Spa, Exeter Golf & Country Club
Having a facial is such a lovely relaxing and pampering treatment, and even more so when the spa is in a sumptuous setting. This week I was invited to try out an Espa facial at the Wear Park Spa in Exeter Golf and Country Club, a real treat indeed.
Situated just outside Exeter, on the Topsham Road, I’d passed the entrance numerous times yet had never visited, and so was surprised to turn the driveway onto a gorgeous Georgian manor house set in acres of landscaped gardens and opening onto the golf course. As described, ‘it is an oasis of countryside calm in the heart of Exeter’.
The Wear Park Spa is on the first floor and takes up a suite of generously proportioned rooms, overlooking the golf course.
The whole atmosphere is one of relaxed luxury, and perfect in every detail, from the folding of the towels to the glass of ice cold water in cut crystal glass offered to me as I filled out my consultation form.
I was greeted by the very lovely therapists Rosie and Kerry, and my facial was performed by Rosie, in a beautiful candlelit treatment room, where I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed.
Now I’m aware that on my blog I am always saying ‘This was the best xxx ever … ‘ in posts, but the thing is, if I write about something, it usually is because I genuinely like it a lot. And here I go again – this was the best facial I have ever had!
Rosie started with a consultation about my skin type, then a sensory test, followed by examination of my skin under UV light to locate skin problems not visible to the naked eye. This showed up pigmentation from sun damage, dehydration around the eyes, and loss of tone in the jaw area. From this Rosie decided on the best products to use in order to address these issues, performing a personalised mix of a rehydrating and anti-ageing facial.
My skin was then thoroughly cleansed, toned, exfoliated and moisturised, with products including a facial mask, serum and face treatment oil. What was so lovely was Rosie also included a scalp, shoulders and arm massages – I felt thoroughly treated and almost as if I had a full body treatment instead of just a facial.
I skin felt so good afterwards and I was so impressed with the whole experience that I immediately booked another for a few weeks’ time. In the meantime I am trying out some samples of Espa products to see if I can prolong the effects of Rosie’s good work. I’ll let you know how I get on with them in a future beauty post.
If you live in the South West, or are visiting Exeter, I can whole-heartedly recommend you check out the Wear Park Spa at Exeter Golf and Country Club, open to non-residents all year round. I do not want to take away from all the good beauty salons in the city, but I’m afraid I won’t be going back to having treatments in poky cubicle-type rooms now that I’ve experienced such luxury!
Thanks to Wear Park Spa at Exeter Golf and Country Club who offered me a treatment in exchange for an honest review. All images and words are my own and genuine.

I haven’t been to the golf and country club for many years. It certainly looks like a lot has changed Molly. What a lovely experience. I really must start treating myself more. xx
Yes, I understand the spa is a relatively recent addition this year. We definitely need to plan a day – they have double treatment rooms so perfect for friends to share.
